Join the Monhegan Island Photography Workshop and immerse yourself for 4+ magical days in island life. You’ll explore the heart and soul of a charming, unique island with a year-round population of 65, no paved roads, and only a handful of motor-vehicles. You’ll be stepping back in time when your reach this unbridged island, 10 miles from the mainland.
Discover Monhegan’s tranquility and natural beauty, which has drawn artists and travelers for many decades; Rockwell Kent, James Fitzgerald, George Bellows, Robert Henri, and Jamie Wyeth, to name a few.
MONHEGAN ISLAND PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP INFO:

- there will be demonstrations and discussions, hands-on exercises to practice techniques

GROUP SIZE: Limited to 6
TOUR PRICE: $1385, includes photo instructor, lessons, critiques, and tour planning. No fee for non-photographing companions who are welcome to join outings and group meals, but no access to photography sessions.

What about lodging?
LODGING:
- I have a block of rooms with nightly rates ranging from $165 – $286, plus tax. (Price is per room, not per person. Great opportunity to bring a guest.)
- Options include queen, one twin, two twins. Let me know if you can’t find what you need.
- Once you have registered for your workshop you will get a reservation link for our dates and our block of rooms only. In the meantime you can look at the accommodations here.
- Monhegan House cancellation policy applies. Travel insurance is recommended.

Built in 1840s as a single family home, Monhegan House Inn’s long tradition of friendly, authentic island hospitality started in 1870. After many renovations and expansions, the inn offers 28 guest rooms and a cozy, comfortable stay in the heart of the village at 1 Main Street. Your room rate includes a 3-course 5-star breakfast.
Rooms on the first, second, and third floors utilize shared, yet private, bath facilities on the first and second floor. Two suites on the ground floor have private baths. There is no elevator in the building. (Note: the ground floor is not the first floor.)

What will the daily schedule look like?

Our itinerary is dependent on weather and other unforeseen circumstances. You are welcome to participate as much or as little as you wish.
July 26: Arrival Day
- 4:30pm meet & greet at our inn
- Early dinner
- Walk through village and sunset shoot
Options for the rest of the week:
- Morning – sunrise shoot, breakfast, mid-morning photo discussion, nature preserve hike and other nearby areas of interest
- Afternoon – mid-day break; lunch, nap, downloading, private meeting with Dee, group discussions, explore the village, visit a gallery, explore the cemetery, take a boat ride around the island to see the cliff side from the water.
- Evening – dinner break, sunset shoot, stroll the village after the day visitors leave, shoot evening light, image review.
July 30: Departure Day, but plan on this as a workshop day and if possible, schedule your ferry departure for late in the afternoon.
What are the physical requirements?
This workshop will involve walking with your camera gear on gravel roads and nature trails. There are some short, steep hills, but we won’t be in a rush. I’m happy to address your concerns now, or on the workshop, to make sure that your needs are met and that you are safe and comfortable on all outings.
What is the Monhegan Island Photography Workshop Cancellation Policy?
WORKSHOP CANCELLATION POLICY:
- I will give a complete refund in the event that I need to cancel the tour for any reasons.
- If you cancel more than 95 days before July 26 (April 22), your tour fee will be refunded to you, minus a $150 processing fee.
- If you cancel 94 – 31 days before July 26, 50% of your tour fee will be refunded.
- There is no refund if you cancel 30 days or less from July 26.
- To cancel you must contact me to activate the cancellation and to make sure the refund goes through properly.
- I suggest that you consider Trip Cancellation Insurance. (Not offered by CMPT.)
