All Aboard: Train Photography Workshop
This workshop offers a thrilling, nostalgic experience where history, scenery, and photography come together on steel rails. November 5 – 9, 2026

Long before highways, railroads carved a passage through the mountains and often times in an area’s most rugged terrain.
This Train Photography Workshop in the White Mountains of New Hampshire invites you to photograph living railroad history as vintage locomotives wind through beautiful valley landscapes, cross iron trestles, and climb through mountains passes.
The heart of this workshop is the celebrated 470 Club Excursion on the Conway Scenic Railroad. Ride the full route from Conway to Fabyan’s Station, with planned photo stops and thrilling run-bys that allow photographers to disembark and capture vintage locomotives at speed.

From sweeping fields to legendary crossings like Frankenstein Trestle and Willey Brook Bridge, each location offers classic rail imagery framed by autumn light, rugged mountains, and rocky stream beds.
The experience continues beyond Conway with additional train-focused outings, including an ascent on the historic Mount Washington Cog Railway. On this day you’ll photograph the world’s first mountain-climbing railway (1867) as it climbs to 4000ft, an unforgettable blend of engineering, atmosphere, and alpine drama.

What are the physical requirements?
There will be times when entering the train will require the conductor to put down a “step box” so people can reach the first step of the train. Then there will be 2 or 3 more steps. Sometimes the step distance can be higher than a regular household step. The conductor will be there to lend a hand every time we board or disembark.
Also, you will need to be able to go up and down stairs to the dome car. See pictures above to see the interiors of two train cars.
